Collaboration between Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. and Kanazawa Institute of Technology Begins on Collaborative Robot Sawyer

金沢工業大学 (石川県野々市市) は、住友重機械工業メカトロニクス事業部が扱う協働ロボットSawyerを活用した教育研究の取組みを、同大学にて2021年4月より開始する。
金沢工業大学の叡智と住友重機械工業で培った技術を共有し、ロボットが人と同じ空間で作業を分担したり、人の作業を補助したりするフィールドワークを、大学の本拠地である石川県において行う。
本協業により、ロボットの用途拡大に挑戦するとともに、地方創生の一助を担う意向である。

第一弾の活動として、ウェブセミナーに大学を招き、Sawyerの特徴であるROS（Robot OS, ロス）の教育およびその重要性を紹介する。
また、同大学は、来年7月に開催予定のWorld Robot Summit (主催：経産省およびNEDO, 詳細末尾) への出場を検討している。
過去の参加実績やSawyerを使った仮想事例も講演がされる。
