Promoting biomass-related businesses through collaboration

In October 2020, the government declared its goal of reducing overall greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050, in other words, to achieve a carbon-neutral, decarbonized society by 2050. (*2) While various policies are being formulated to achieve this goal, city governments are also promoting cross-sectoral and public-private partnerships.

Under these circumstances, in May 2023, Kasumigaura City declared itself a "Zero Carbon City" aiming to achieve virtually zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050 through energy conservation activities as well as local production and local consumption of renewable energy in order to pass on the city's wonderful environment to future generations. (*3)

Kasumigaura City is a rural city rich in nature, located between Kasumigaura, the second largest lake in Japan, and the southern foot of the Tsukuba mountain range. However, the city lacks biomass-related businesses, as well as knowledge and expertise in biomass. In the future, Kasumigaura City will consider the promotion of biomass-related businesses, and with the aim of creating a good opportunity for the population to develop good relationships with biomass-related businesses, Kasumigaura City has established the "Skill Shift" (*4), a regional side business matching platform operated by Mirai Works, Inc.https://www.skill-shift.com/(hereinafter referred to as "the Company") to promote problem-solving workcation tours in cooperation with the

Through this tour, we aim to contribute to the future development of biomass-related businesses in Kasumigaura City, to the creation and increase of the related population, and to the sharing of skills, thereby contributing to the revitalization of the city.
