Background of Establishment

Expansion from "placemaking" to "people/culture building" for science
Oriental Giken Kogyo was established in 1978 as a manufacturer of safety devices such as laboratory tables and draft chambers for use in research laboratories. With the vision of "contributing to the development of science and technology through laboratory engineering," we have continued to expand our business by responding to every challenge in the research environment with our technical expertise based on our extensive experience. Currently, our corporate mission is "Creating Moments of Inspiration. We are currently developing various businesses that are not bound by conventional fields, such as digital solutions and creating a culture of innovation, based on the field of "science," which has remained unchanged since the company's founding.

The environment surrounding science and technology in Japan faces various challenges, such as sluggish productivity, a decline in the number of students entering doctoral programs, and a decrease in the number of publications. However, the ideal research environment and support system are not sufficiently developed, and there are few facilities to support start-ups in particular.

We would like to solve these issues surrounding science and foster a science culture - X/S Worksite will start as a new challenge for those of us who have been working on "placemaking" for many years.

With this move, Oriental Giken Kogyo will move to the next phase to become "a science culture design group that cultivates the infrastructure of Japanese 'knowledge'".

Tsukuba, a super city that is close to startups and realizes social implementation
Tsukuba City is a research city with an internationally top-level concentration of intellectual resources, including cutting-edge science, industrial technology, and higher education, and is expected to strengthen its support system for start-ups as a super city-type special national strategic zone. We aim to contribute to the sustainable development of society and the economy by taking on new business challenges in this city where we have had a manufacturing base since our establishment.

Facility Features

We support startups aiming to contribute to society and achieve business success in the science field from both the hardware side, such as construction and equipment, and the software side, such as creating matching and funding opportunities and occupational health and safety.
