Fusic Selected for Grant Program by Fukuoka Prefecture Semiconductor and Digital Industry Promotion Council! Building a Crop Production Forecast Using Satellite Data

Fusic's work on "Development of a crop production forecasting model using satellite data" has been selected for a grant project supported by the Fukuoka Prefecture Semiconductor and Digital Industry Promotion Council!
The project aims to be a step toward achieving a digital transformation of agriculture, contributing to more efficient production and sustainability in the agriculture of the future.

Main initiatives in this grant project

Fusic launched its AI (Artificial Intelligence)-based consulting business in 2017, released "mockmock," a virtual device creation service for IoT testing, and by 2022 will be involved in the J-SPARC project (*1), "Supply and Demand through Advanced Advertising by Utilizing Satellite Data In 2022, we will release "mockmock," a service for creating virtual devices for testing the "mockT.
In this grant project, we will build a model for predicting crop production by utilizing our experience in machine learning, IoT knowledge, and satellite data analysis technology that we have accumulated over the past six years.

(*1) J-SPARC Project: JAXA Space Innovation Partnership. A program to create new businesses through joint business concept studies and exit-oriented technology development and demonstration, etc., with a commitment on both sides for commercialization by private companies and JAXA aiming at space business.

The main effort of this grant project is to develop a model to forecast crop production by utilizing satellite data and data from IoT devices on the ground. This system will improve the accuracy of forecasts by increasing the amount of data that can be used, and the information from the production volume forecasts can also be used to forecast crop prices, which can then be used for marketing purposes.

Fusic rented terraced rice fields in Itoshima City, Fukuoka Prefecture in 2022 for research and development of agricultural IoT, and experienced the difficulty and harshness of rice farming while utilizing IoT devices that the company created itself.
Through this experience, I learned how difficult it is to fight against nature, worrying about the condition of the rice plants during typhoons and other abnormal weather, and fretting about the depletion of water if the drought continues.

Fusic continued to try to obtain information on the terraced rice fields remotely, using homemade IoT devices as well as satellite observation of the terraced rice fields.

Embodying the origin of Fusic's company name, "Fusion of Society, IT and Culture," and combining the experience gained through rice farming with Fusic's technological capabilities, Fusic aims to alleviate farmers' concerns and contribute to efficient production and sustainability. Fusic aims to contribute to the improvement of efficient production and sustainability by combining the experience gained through rice cultivation with Fusic's technological capabilities.
