Open Innovation by Daito Kentori Partners and LUUP|Start of Demonstration Experiment of Shared Cycle Service for Electrically Power Assisted Bicycles

Daito Tatemono Partners, one of the three main companies of the Daito Tatemono Group, concluded a business tie-up agreement with Luup, and on October 15 began a demonstration experiment to install ports and provide service for the full-scale introduction of Luup's "LUUP" shared cycle service for small electrically power assisted bicycles.

LUUP" is a project selected in the Daito Kensetsu Accelerator 2019, which was implemented in October 2019 with the aim of creating new businesses through open innovation*1. Bicycles are attracting attention as a means of transportation that allows people to avoid density in new lifestyles, and through this demonstration experiment, the first step toward introducing "LUUP," we will verify usage conditions, demand, and other factors to improve convenience for consumers and create new value by having rental housing managed by our Group play a role as a transportation infrastructure hub. The company intends to contribute to urban development by improving convenience for consumers and creating new value in the form of new transportation infrastructure for the rental housing managed by the Group.

1 A system for co-creating innovative businesses and services not only by relying on the company's own management resources and technologies, but also by collaborating with external parties.

LUUP, a sharing service with a view to commercializing electric kickboards

A view of the port

LUUP" is a sharing service for small electrically power assisted bicycles. The service is currently available in parts of six areas (Shibuya, Meguro, Minato, Setagaya, Shinagawa, and Shinjuku wards), and in the future the company aims to offer sharing services for various types of electric micromobility, such as electric kickboards.
The compact design of the service's small electrically power assisted bicycles makes it possible to install ports*2 even in limited space*3. Therefore, multiple ports are installed within a short distance within the service area, making it easy to use the service for short-distance trips around town for shopping and other purposes. The verification experiment will be conducted by installing ports in a total of three rental housing buildings managed by our group, two in Setagaya-ku and one in Meguro-ku.

What is the Daito Accelerator 2019?

Daito Kensetsu Group is currently aiming to become a "comprehensive lifestyle support company" that goes beyond the construction and real estate business, with the general leasing business at its core, instead of specializing in rental housing. The Daito Tento Accelerator 2019 aims to create new value that will lead to the resolution of issues facing society as a whole by co-creating with startup companies completely new services that will lead to customer satisfaction, not bound by the framework of existing businesses, such as realizing a society where people can live comfortably and have a secure future. This initiative was implemented in October 2019 with the aim of creating new value that will lead to the resolution of issues facing society as a whole.

"Daito Accelerator 2019" to begin October 7.
