Background and Issues
Recently, the number of foreign visitors to Japan has been on a rapid recovery trend, and it is said that the government's target of achieving 5 trillion yen (Note 3) in travel spending by foreign visitors to Japan by 2025 will be achieved at an early date. The promotion of the tourism industry, one of the main industries for earning foreign currency, is considered to be an important opportunity to solve Japan's declining and aging population, lack of skilled workers due to migration to urban areas, and financial challenges in the region.
In addition to accommodations that provide more comfortable transportation and higher quality services, there are also growing expectations for new value creation and high value-added services to meet the diverse needs of wealthy foreign visitors to Japan, such as special experiences that can only be had in Japan, with the aim of increasing per capita consumption.
JTB, with "Exchange Creation Business" as its business domain, provides support to solve issues faced by local communities and tourism businesses by utilizing its nationwide network to expand the number of people interacting with each other through the creation of various human, logistical, and commercial flows. As a part of this, JTB has been providing support for inbound travel to Japan for tourist destinations.
