Details of Collaboration
(Kawasaki, Kanagawa, Japan; Representative: Masaya Asobu; hereinafter "LexxPluss") and Sagawa Express Co. (Head Office: Minami-ku, Kyoto; President: Hideo Motomura; hereinafter "Sagawa Express"), a member of the SG Holdings Group, have introduced 12 units of LexxPluss' Automated Material Handling Robot "Hybrid-AMR" on December 1, 2022, on the third floor of the Sagawa Express Relay Center, a next-generation large-scale distribution center "X-Frontier" of the SG Holdings Group, to start large-scale automation of irregular cargo handling operations that have been dependent on human labor.
At the X Frontier Sagawa Express Relay Center, 90% of the cargo is handled by an automated sorting machine consisting of a conveyor belt, etc. However, irregular-shaped cargo that could not be transported by the automated sorting machine was conventionally sorted by hand and transported on a cart. In the past, attempts were made to automate the process by introducing robots, but in an environment where packages and people are constantly coming and going 24 hours a day, there were no robots that could flexibly and efficiently handle the conveyance process, so the problem remained.
The "Hybrid-AMR" provided by LexxPluss, which was introduced this time, is an automated guided vehicle robot that can combine AMR technology (Autonomous Mobile Robot: AMR), which can autonomously detect and bypass obstacles as in automated driving, with AGV technology (Automated Guided Vehicle: AGV), which can guarantee repeatable accuracy and work speed. AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) technology, which can guarantee repeatable accuracy and work speed.
In addition to the basic functions of Hybrid-AMR, the X Frontier Sagawa Express Relay Center has implemented the latest functions, such as an "automatic aligned parking function" that parks cargo regularly according to conditions at the destination and an "empty cart collection function" that collects empty carts, and introduced an automatic transport system in a way that reduces the amount of luggage and carts The company has introduced an automatic transfer system in a way that reduces the amount of luggage and trolley retention.
Konnectt, a travel management system from LexxPluss, has a language-independent interface that can be used by non-native Japanese-speaking workers, as well as the ability to centrally manage more than 50 robots, enabling large-scale automation of on-site work with only simple tasks, even if the operator is not familiar with robot operation. This enables large-scale automation of on-site work with only simple tasks, even if the operator is not familiar with robot operation.
Both companies will work to further improve transport efficiency by accumulating and analyzing data in the cloud during operation.
LexxPluss, which provides the Hybrid-AMR installed at the X-Frontier Sagawa Express Relay Center, received the Judges' Special Award in the "2020 SAGAWA ACCELERATOR PROGRAM*1. LexxxPluss is one of the few Japanese manufacturers that consistently develop, manufacture, and sell automatic guided vehicle robots.
LexxPluss will continue to promote the automation of distribution centers.
