Glamping facilities are being developed at Tsuchiai Station on the Joetsu Line, known as the best mole station in Japan, to provide new value to the unmanned station. It aims to revitalize the community by creating a place where not only travelers and climbers, but also local residents can casually drop by, and where many people can gather for a lively local exchange.
During the period, the station building will be utilized for lodging, food and beverage facilities, open-air sauna, and various events.

■Monitor Accommodation Plan "Mole House
The first instant house in Japan where you can stay overnight. Compared to ordinary tents, it is sturdier and features superior insulation. The rooms are warm and comfortable even in winter, and the train can be seen from inside the tent, creating an extraordinary feeling.
Number of rooms: 2 rooms in total
Capacity: from 2 persons
Room rate: 18,000 yen per person (tax not included)
Indoor: approx. 4 m in diameter / approx. 20 sq.m.
Provided: bedding, lighting, amenities, meals (dinner and breakfast), etc.

Tanigawadake and locals who enjoy activities around Mt. Tanigawadake can stop by and take a break, and onigiri (rice balls), miso soup, etc. will be sold.

Open-air sauna
A sauna is specially set up for easy enjoyment in the midst of nature. Enjoy a relaxing sauna while enjoying the great nature of Minakami.

JR East Startup Programindicates word or phrase being defined
The program invites venture companies and people with various ideas to submit business and service proposals that utilize the management resources and information assets of stations, railroads, and group businesses, and after brushing up the proposals, they are realized. first held in FY2017, a total of 63 proposals have been adopted so far. The program received the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award at the 1st Japan Open Innovation Awards in FY2018 hosted by the Cabinet Office. The program has conducted demonstration experiments in a wide range of fields, including railroad and IT businesses, and some of the initiatives have been put into practical use.
