IBARAKI Prefecture to Host Space Business Pitch Contest "IBARAKI Next Space Pitch#2"! Open Call for Speakers!

Ibaraki Prefecture will hold a space business pitch contest "IBARAKI Next Space Pitch #2" on the evening of March 2, 2022. In this contest, pitches will be judged by ventures and companies that are in the space business or wish to take on future challenges, and companies that are recognized as particularly promising will be given preferential support from Ibaraki Prefecture. The judging panel will consist mainly of key persons and researchers involved in the space business at large companies.

In the space industry, which has been attracting attention in recent years, a new trend is emerging from the market centered on public demand to private demand. Since the space business is still in its infancy, it is important to develop the business by building networks with related organizations and effectively conducting business matching with companies.

Therefore, this contest will be held with the aim of supporting companies and individuals who challenge the space business through this pitch contest. In addition, by providing a networking opportunity for judges, speakers, and audience members, the contest aims to build new projects and partnerships, and ultimately, to demonstrate Ibaraki Prefecture's presence in the space business.

Comments from last year's Grand Prix winners

(Kohei Nishida, Representative Director and CEO, TOWING Co.

TOWING is a Nagoya University venture company that develops sustainable and highly efficient crop production systems with the aim of realizing space agriculture and developing global agriculture. We have recently been selected to participate as a consortium member in a research-led R&D project in the area of space food. Last year, we won the Grand Prix at the IBARAKI Next Space Pitch and were able to connect with various people who had information necessary for our business development, from JAXA officials who were watching the pitch to farmers in Ibaraki Prefecture. It was also a great experience for us to meet and inspire each other with fellow contestants who are also aiming for space. If you are interested, please give it a try!
