Cab sharing app "nearMe." begins accepting applications for small group door-to-door "commuter shuttles".

With the spread of the new coronavirus and voluntary curfew restrictions in place throughout Japan, there are hospitals, medical facilities, supermarkets, financial institutions, and many other concerned individuals who have no choice but to go to work or come to work. Against this backdrop, NearMe, Inc., which provides the "nearMe." taxi-sharing application, has begun recruiting a small number of dedicated commuter shuttles for people who must go to work or come to work due to work-related reasons, The service began on Thursday, April 16.

Due to the spread of the new coronavirus, a state of emergency was declared in seven prefectures by the Prime Minister on April 7. In addition, each city has declared its own state of emergency one after another in order to keep pace with the situation. Even under such circumstances where people are urged to refrain from going out and to work at home, there are many people who have no choice but to go to work or come to work. And it is also a reality that these people support our daily lives.

While some people develop the disease on a daily basis, we also see a large percentage of people who are unable to track down the source of infection. We have decided to create a commuter shuttle service for a small number of people who have no choice but to go to work and commute to work by public transportation, and we are looking for companies and organizations that wish to utilize this service.

As the new coronavirus rages around the world, I would like to begin by thanking all of you in the medical profession and those who are performing essential tasks in our lives. I understand, of course, that each of us needs to stop the spread of the new coronavirus by reducing our outings by 70 to 80%. As a MaaS service provider, we are looking for companies and organizations that can do something to help.

We at Near Me have been developing our own AI and optimizing our routing by operating Smart Shuttle™ for airport transfers since last August. We believe that by utilizing that routing technology, our service can be used by everyone in a way that allows us to track who has boarded the bus, rather than an unspecified number of people. Of course, we would also like to do our utmost to ensure that no one is infected. We would be happy to hear from you.
