Started a verification experiment for the introduction of a "small-scale decentralized water circulation system" for residential use.
With 40% of humanity facing water shortages by 2030* and the financial challenges of water supply and sewage systems becoming more apparent, especially in developed countries, water issues have become a serious social problem worldwide. To solve these problems fundamentally, there is an urgent need to establish a new standard for sustainable water infrastructure that is highly adaptable to water shortages and population changes.
Water 2030 global water supply and demand model (IFPRI)
Against this backdrop, WOTA is promoting the technological demonstration and commercialization of "small-scale decentralized water recycling systems" as a new standard for water infrastructure, and successfully demonstrated the world's first residential water reuse system that enables comprehensive water use in May 2022.
In 2023, we will start a pilot project to introduce "small-scale decentralized water circulation systems" for residential use in several municipalities on islands and underpopulated areas in Japan where the cost of water supply is high, as well as in island countries overseas. With this Series B round of funding, we will begin mass production and development of the "small-scale decentralized water circulation system" for residential use, as well as start its social implementation.

About WOTA
Since its establishment in 2014, WOTA has been developing "small-scale decentralized water recycling systems" that recycle and maximize the effective use of domestic wastewater and "autonomous water treatment control technology" to realize such systems, in order to solve various problems caused by uneven distribution, depletion and contamination of water resources on the earth. We are developing "small-scale decentralized water circulation systems" and "autonomous water treatment control technology" to realize them.
Two products have already been launched and are being used nationwide in Japan, contributing to the realization of emergency water use under water cutoff conditions in times of disaster and the improvement of public health.
In addition, we have successfully demonstrated a "small-scale decentralized water circulation system" for residential use that realizes daily water use, which will be introduced to municipalities and governments in Japan and abroad starting in 2023.
We will continue to promote R&D and product diffusion to realize a "small-scale decentralized water recycling society" for sustainable water use by humankind.
