STARTUP DB] Survey Results! Domestic Startup Funding Ranking (Jan-Jul 2022)

For Startups, which promotes growth industry support projects, continuously conducts surveys on domestic startup trends and publishes the results on its service, "STARTUP DB. This time, we have released the "Domestic Startup Funding Amount Ranking" covering the period from January 1 to July 31, 2022.

Arum and Tiafoe are newly ranked in 1st and 3rd place, respectively.

Newly ranked companies in the domestic startup funding ranking for January-July 2022 include Arum, which ranked first, Tearfour, and AnyMind Group, for a total of three companies.

Newly ranked in first place, Arum offers "Join", a communication application for medical professionals. Join" enables real-time communication between medical professionals through a combination of mobile and cloud computing, and can also share necessary medical information by linking with PACS (medical image management system) and other systems. In July 2022, the company raised 24.7 billion yen through a third-party allocation of new shares with DeNA and Seibu Realty Solutions as the underwriters. The company plans to accelerate DX in the medical and nursing care field by developing new solutions specialized in telemedicine, and to expand and grow its business in Japan and overseas with the aim of further global expansion.

Newly ranked in third place, Tearfour offers "Autoware," open source software for automated driving systems. Autoware" is an automated driving system jointly developed with Nagoya University, Nagasaki University, and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, and has already been adopted by more than 200 companies in Japan and abroad. In July 2022, the company raised 12.1 billion yen through a third-party allocation of new shares in a Series B round of financing with SOMPO Holdings, Yamaha Motor, and Bridgestone as the underwriters. Going forward, the company plans to provide reference designs for automated driving functions and promote development projects totaling 40 billion yen using GI funds.

AnyMind Group, a new entry at No. 18, offers a wide range of services in Japan and other Asian countries, including marketing solutions, D2C brands, entertainment, and HR. The company's initial listing on the TSE Mothers market was approved on February 22, 2022, but was postponed on March 11, 2022.
In July 2022, the company raised a total of 5 billion yen through an overdraft facility of 1 billion yen from Mizuho Bank, and third-party allotment of new shares to JIC Venture Growth Fund No.1 Investment Limited Partnership, JP Investment No.1 Investment Limited Partnership, Proto Ventures No.2 Investment Limited Partnership, Mitsubishi UFJ Capital No.7 Investment Limited Partnership, and Japan Growth Capital. The company raised a total of 5 billion yen through a third-party allotment of new shares to JIC Venture Growth Fund No.1 Investment Limited Partnership, JP Investment No.1 Investment Limited Partnership, Mitsubishi UFJ Capital No.7 Investment Business Limited Partnership, and Japan Growth Capital. The funds raised will be used for growth investment in existing businesses and for future M&A.

13 companies with cumulative fundraising exceeding 10 billion yen

Of the companies ranked in the top 20, 13 companies have raised more than 10 billion yen in cumulative funding, an increase of three from last month.
The 13 companies are Arum, Legal Force, Tear Four, Spiber, Softbank Robotics Group, Clean Energy Connect, Synspective, Terra Drone, AI Medical Services, Rapyuta Robotics, UPSIDER, and Kyash, AnyMind Group.

As of August 9, 2022, the median amount of funds raised in July 2022 was approximately 259.96 million yen, the average was approximately 832.44 million yen, and the total amount of funds raised was approximately 82,411.8 million yen. (Including some financing through loans and bonds)
