ITOCHU Ultra Shortwave Joins GAUDI, an Open Innovation Program of Juntendo Educational Corporation

Ito Ultrashort Wave, a pioneer in physical therapy equipment, announced that it has joined GAUDI, an open innovation program of Juntendo Educational Corporation.

Ito Ultrasound will accelerate various research and development efforts, including the establishment of evidence on physical therapy and the possibility of physical therapy in new fields, and will devote itself to making contributions to as many customers and patients as possible. 

What is GAUDI (Global Alliance Under the Dynamic Innovation)?


Juntendo Educational Corporation's large-scale clinical platform (more than 3 million outpatients and 1 million inpatients per year) is utilized to promote various research and development with physicians and healthcare professionals.
This innovation program provides support from the discovery of development seeds to social implementation (productization and commercialization) in a wide range of fields, from technology development in regenerative medicine, medical device development, and treatment of intractable diseases, to new technologies such as medical AI and genome medicine.

Founded in 1916, Ito Ultrashort Wave has a 100-year history as a pioneer in physical therapy equipment. Since its founder, Kenji Ito, independently researched physical therapy and developed Japan's first ultra-short wave therapy device, the company has developed numerous physical therapy devices.

Supporting athletes to be in their best condition through physical therapy equipment

In order to actively support athletes, ITOCHU has launched the ITO Sports Project, which supports the treatment and conditioning of athletes representing various sports at world-class competitions in soccer, judo, swimming, and other sports. The project has been used by trainers and athletes not only in Japan but also around the world, by setting up body care rooms during competitions to reduce injuries and fatigue, and by using a variety of treatment equipment to ensure that athletes are in the best possible condition to compete.
In addition, by having athletes use the equipment not only during competitions but also during training camps and practices, the company will always keep them in top condition and provide backup for faster recovery in the event of injury. ITOCHU will continue to contribute to the treatment and conditioning of athletes.
