What is Megloo, a container sharing service using reusable containers?
By sharing common reusable containers throughout the region, we can reduce the number of disposable containers used for take-out.
You can easily rent a room with your mobile phone and return it to any of the supported stores, delivering delicious and healthy tastes centered on locally produced and locally consumed foods, as well as a friendly feeling.
Kaman, which operates the Megloo business, received an award for excellence at the third annual Marui Co-Creation Pitch (held in December 2022), an open innovation program with startup companies that has been held by the Marui Group since fiscal 2020, and is currently working toward collaboration. Efforts are currently underway for collaboration.

About this experiment
This initiative aims to reduce the disposal of disposable takeout containers by replacing the "Megloo" reusable containers provided by Kaman with takeout containers from kitchen cars operating in Nakano Central Park. In the demonstration experiment, "Megloo" collection boxes will be set up in front of Nakano Central Park South, where the Marui Group headquarters building, Nakano Marui, and Kirin Holdings headquarters are located.
The returned "Megloo" will be collected by Kaman, cleaned in the employee cafeteria at Marui Group headquarters, and then served again to the kitchen cars for repeated use.

In conducting this demonstration experiment, Marui Group will conduct awareness and awareness surveys among employees and customers in the Nakano area, install collection boxes in the head office and Nakano Marui, and provide cleaning facilities in the company cafeteria. Kirin Holdings will conduct employee awareness activities and awareness surveys, and install collection boxes in the head office office, while Tokyo Tatemono will collaborate in the introduction of Megloo in its kitchen cars and provide the location for the demonstration experiment.
A total of 35 kitchen cars will be set up in Nakano Central Park over a five-day period for this demonstration experiment. The average number of users of the kitchen cars over the past three months is 443 people per day. During the demonstration period, we aim to have approximately 30% of the customers use "Megloo" and reduce the amount of take-out containers discarded.

The Marui Group has set a goal of "Impact," which clearly defines the direction in which it aims to go, and we believe that co-creation with our stakeholders is indispensable to achieving this goal. Impact" consists of the three themes of (1) creating the future together with future generations, (2) creating individual "happiness" together, and (3) creating an ecosystem for co-creation.

The Marui Group aims to achieve both "impact" and profit through co-creation with startups like Kaman, which work to solve social issues through business, and with future generations.
After the completion of this demonstration experiment, a sustainable event, "De-plasticizing Lifestyle Support Fest" will be held at Marui Group's Yurakucho Marui on July 29 (Sat) and 30 (Sun).
